Delta Lumber and Coal was incorporated on September 1, 1920. It operated out of the old Delta Auto Sales building on Main Street in Delta, Pennsylvania. After returning from World War Two, Robert Galbreath along with his partner John Clark purchased the business and operated for a number of years out of the old Delta Auto Sales building. In the mid 1950's they purchased the old Delta High School building on Chesnut Street and moved the business. The new company was called Delta Lumber and Building Supply. After the death of Robert Galbreath, David C. Galbreath(brother) purchased the company from the estate. Current owner David H. Galbreath (son of David C. Galbreath) entered the business in 1979. In 1981 the business moved to it's current location in Whiteford, Maryland. The company was incorporated in 1985 as Delta Lumber, Inc. The building is one of the largest passive solar structures in the country. In keeping with this building constructed in 1981, Delta Lumber, Inc. is a certified green retailer. Delta lumber was one of the first HWI Do It Centers and is still a Do It Best dealer today. |
